What is Decant, Support and Deliver (DsD)
Decant, Sort and Deliver (DsD) provides practical humanitarian support by collecting, sorting, preparing and distributing donated essential items through trusted charities and community organisations across South Wales.
Working with partners including Cwtch Mawr and other local organisations, V-Aid helps ensure donations reach the people who need them quickly, efficiently and with dignity. Every item is carefully checked, organised and prepared before being delivered to frontline charities supporting people experiencing hardship.
Why It Matters
Many charities receive generous donations but often lack the time, volunteers or storage capacity to prepare them for distribution.
Through our partnerships with local charities and community organisations, the Decant, Sort & Deliver programme provides practical support by sorting clothing, toiletries, household essentials and other donated items into organised, ready-to-distribute supplies.
This allows frontline charities to spend more time supporting people in crisis and less time managing donations, helping every donated item achieve its greatest possible impact.
How It Works
Donated items are collected from our partners and delivered to V-Aid volunteers for sorting, checking and preparation.
Each item is inspected, organised into appropriate categories and packed according to the needs identified by our charity partners. Clothing is sorted by size and type, toiletries are grouped into practical kits, and household essentials are prepared ready for immediate distribution.
Once complete, the prepared donations are delivered back to our partner organisations, allowing them to respond quickly to people facing hardship throughout South Wales.
Building Skills Through Service
Decant, Sort & Deliver provides far more than practical support for charities. Every session creates a safe, welcoming environment where volunteers from different backgrounds work together to make a genuine difference within their communities.
Participants gain valuable experience in teamwork, organisation, stock management and logistics while developing confidence, practical skills and a stronger understanding of humanitarian support.
We also work alongside organisations such as Swansea Probation, veterans’ groups and community organisations, providing purposeful volunteering opportunities that build routine, responsibility and employability.
By bringing together volunteers, partner organisations and local communities, every session delivers benefits both for those receiving support and for those giving their time to help others.
What We Distribute
Through our partnerships with Cwtch Mawr and other local organisations, the Decant, Sort & Deliver programme prepares a wide range of donated essential items for distribution across South Wales, including:
- Clothing for adults and children
- Footwear
- Toiletries and personal hygiene products
- Kitchen and household essentials
- Baby clothing and baby care items
- Emergency and seasonal supplies
- Food and other donated essentials where appropriate
Every item is carefully checked, sorted and packed to help ensure local charities receive practical support that is ready for immediate distribution.
More Than a Box
Every box prepared through the Decant, Sort & Deliver programme represents far more than donated items.
It provides practical support, restores dignity and helps individuals and families facing difficult circumstances while enabling local charities to respond more quickly and efficiently.
For those taking part, every item sorted, packed and delivered is an opportunity to make a genuine difference. Volunteers develop confidence, practical skills and experience the satisfaction that comes from helping others.
By connecting generous donors, committed volunteers and trusted charity partners, Decant, Sort & Deliver transforms everyday donations into meaningful acts of kindness that strengthen communities across South Wales.
Supporting Those Who Support Others
The success of the Decant, Sort & Deliver programme is measured by the difference it makes to the charities and communities we support.
One of our partner organisations shared the following feedback:
“The delivery of clothing and essential supplies we receive from V-Aid allows us to respond far more quickly to people arriving in crisis. Every item is sorted, clean and ready for immediate distribution, saving our team valuable time and ensuring donations reach those who need them with dignity and respect.”
This partnership approach ensures every donation is used effectively, every volunteer makes a meaningful contribution and every charity partner can focus on supporting people rather than sorting donations.
